It is unequivocably NOT an unpaid role.

While I don't know what your council paid in that euphemistic term "allowances", my own local council pays each elected member over £9k a year which is topped up quite considerably by posts on quangos like the local transport authority, just for instance.

Deputy leaders, leaders etc get more - as you well know.

This isn't abuse. I merely reprinted a public article. My interest in this was not so much your conduct but the way in which you attempted to conceal your behaviour from the people you expected to vote for you.

Oh - also have a wonderful partner, great kids around me, wonderful dog, and perfectly happy. Chin chin x

Actually you Juzzy do not appreciate what people in local goverment do - at no point are you dictating or legalising/illegalising people's behaviour purely it is a (unpaid) role which addresses local issues such as parking fines, street lighting; etc to name a few of the recent issues. People's behavior is dictated by our laws and I guess from your very santimonious stance you have never broken...interesting because that makes you a rare and possible non empathatic human being. Everyone makes mistakes which is a fact of life. I never intended to get to this point. I am a state school educated Oxford graduate ex lawyer who wanted to help people. I let people down. I am well aware of that. Constant abuse from total strangers is a strange way of expressing dissaffection by the way. Ps hope your life goes swimmingly... Pps I have a wonderful partner and daughter who adore me and family and friends who have been great.. I wonder why you need to be so nasty, why are you so sad????

Why hasn't this information been the subject of a TV documentary? Surely some enterprising TV journalist can recognise the explosive nature of this information.
The BBC gets its regular EU bribe/grant but if any unbribed channel is out there I suggest this would go down a storm in every possible sense.

If it's so bad, why doesn't Paul Nuttal MEP resign? How much of our public money has he made off the back of it during his tenure? If his argument is he is fighting it from within, is there a link so I can see what progress his protests have made over the years?

Or is all this a way of puffing and promoting his own UKIP party?

Well I was wondering how I'd manage to keep up my regular shot of 'right on' journalism now that the Telgraph and Sun are going behind paywalls (never to be seen again like The Times !) . The parts about the sleazy goings on around the Euro HQ in Brussels in your article would not be newsworthy in almost every other EU member state , and indicate as clearly as anything a significant difference in our demands of our political class . My daughter-in-law and neice-in-law (both Continental Europeans) are amazed at the minor transgressions that can bring our MPs into disgrace , replacement toilet seats and chocolate biscuits to name but two . Although the Continentals ridicule us for our attitude they are influenced by it and investigative (or even scurrilous) journalism such as this deserves a wide audience . Great Blog !

Paul's an interesting guy. And while I like a few local politicians round here, he's arguably one of the most honest I've met.

Paul Nuttal was my colleague, history lecturer at Hughbaird College, we did our PGCE together; Jesus, he can talk, it's all it takes to be a rich politician, I guess.
