In the Merseyside and Cheshire area, there's a political battle going on about school holidays, and whether or not they should be unified across the region.

The idea, which I think has its merits, is that for the many thousands of education workers who have children at schools in different parts of the county, it's difficult to coincide their holiday times.

It turns out that our local council has decided to wait and see how the others get on. I also think that a sit back and study attitude has merits, too, so well done to them.

But the most telling part of this otherwise thoroughly uninteresting post is this paragraph:

Last night Abta, which represents the travel industry, said if all schools were closed at the same time then "prices would go up" to reflect increased demand.

I know we all knew this in our heart of hearts.

Even so.

Daylight fucking robbery.
