Best wishes to those public sector workers - not everywhere, admittedly, but some places, certainly - looking forward to their guaranteed, inflation-busting rises this year, and those guaranteed pensions, too.
No, really.
The people who are paying your wages under threat of jail but who aren't themselves getting rises this year - pay cuts, in fact - are just delighted to be able to fund the increase in your standard of living.
God you deserve it.
Especially the really important ones, like the corridor walkers with no actual public service brief, just a brief to hold on to your increasingly pointless jobs...
...and the incredibly, wonderfully special ones, who dream up situations like this.
Sleep well in your beds, won't you?
Because after all, you're quite certain that you're there to take care of us, aren't you?

It's frustrating when you hear about bollocks like this when there's people like my sister who work for social services (in an admin capacity) who work bloody hard, had a pay cut two years ago in some council wide payscale rebanding process which probably cost more in outside consultancy fees than they saved in the actual pay cuts and is working harder than ever because they've got a recruitment freeze on at the moment and she's doing the work of three people on a four day week.
